Gastons in Wales — Jodie & Tina

It’s Official…We’re going to Wales

We are pleased to announce that last week we were offered and accepted an appointment to become missionaries in Wales with Greater Europe Mission.  We are extrememly excited about what God is doing in Wales (and in many other parts of Europe as well).  We know that a lot of you have questions, so we wanted to share with you some of the details about this new ministry opportunity.

If you’d like to partner with us through monthly giving, you can do so here!

Prayer Requests

  • That the Lord will keep Satan from putting doubts in our mind about His calling for us.
  • That we will be diligent in our preparation, especially in the area of developing ministry partners.
  • Pray for the harvest that the Lord has prepared ahead of time (Matthew 9: 37-38).

Here are answers to some of your frequently asked questions:

Who is GEM?  GEM stands for Greater Europe Mission.  The organization was founded in the late 40’s by a Navy chaplain who saw Europe’s need for the gospel while he was serving in World War 2.  Today GEM has over 300 missionaries serving in 29 european countries.  GEM’s mission is to “disciple all people’s of Europe through rapidly reproducing churches.”  In a nutshell, GEM’s hope is to see the launch of a new movement of followers of Christ who are committed to sharing their faith with others.

What will you be doing in Wales?   When we go to Wales, we’ll be partnering with churches to identify, strengthen, encourage, support, train and pray for disciples of Jesus, so that they can share their faith in Christ with others.  We hope to do this primarily through small prayer and bible study groups.  Jodie will also preach and teach in churches when opportunities arise.

When will you be leaving for Wales? Our departure for Wales is dependent upon God’s provision of financial support.  Our hope is to be fully supported by next summmer.

How can I pray for you?  We are currently assembling a prayer team of individuals who are committed to praying for us on at least a weekly basis.  If you’d like to become a prayer partner you can sign up here.

How can I partner with you?  Supporting missions is one of the most tangible things that we can do to fulfill the Great Commission.  We’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to serve the Lord in Wales, but that opportunity is dependent upon others who are willing to support our ministry.  If you’d like to support us through monthly giving, you can download the necessary form here.

We look forward to sharing with you more about how God is working in and through us over the next few months.

A recent story on the opportunity in Wales

Wales enjoys a wonderful Christian heritage but does it have much of a future?
Written by Rob James
The people of Wales need to see that as churches we really do believe what the Scriptures say, and not simply pay lip service to them. They also need to see that we can experience God in life changing ways, and not merely muse about this in sermons or sing about it from song sheets and screens.   Read more…
